NTC/Thermistor connectors

This may be of interest to those using STC100's or other thermistor/NTC sensors. I've just asked Southern Temperature Sensors to list a suitable set of connectors for using with them, the Socket is here and the plug is here

Another good option is a MiniDIN connector (plug and socket and another socket).

Alternatively - if you want one that cannot be accidentally pulled out, XLR connectors are good too (line mount socket and panel mount plug). The drawback is that they are much more expensive!

I use the mini dins on my switch box, they work great, are nice and small, and they're o.k price wise too. The xlr's are a bit big for my liking and unless buying from Maplins makes em expensive, far cheaper on E-bay, but handy to look at in Maplins if unsure about size. One think I do like about the XLR's, as you touched on, are the locking tabs...no chance of them popping out

XLR patch cables are shielded which is a nice feature for analogue sensors.

Phone socket type connections are cheap and easy of get hold of.
