Nottingham recall

Not sure if you all even have the same manufacturer as we do in North America but the Nottingham packets of dry yeast have been recalled here. The lot in question is 1080961099V exp. 12/2011. I checked and the three packets I have all match that lot and date. :-( Just bought them a few weeks ago too. Glad I didn't use them.

Apparently, brewers are experiencing extra long lag times with this lot of yeast. Just thought I'd send out a warning in case it does affect anyone on here.

My buddy pitched it into a batch of cider and complained that it took several days before he had any activity. I wonder if he got one of these bad ones. I know he got it from the same place I got mine.

Have 4 packs here with the same batch No. and Exp date. Made in Austria.

Where were yours manufactured Barry??

I brewed yesterday ......

and AFTER I'd brewed :roll: I saw and read this thread so went in the bin and recovered the empty pack of Nottingham I'd just used :hmm: yup ....... it was the same batch number etc :shock:

too late so wait and see :pray:

just been down the den a few minutes ago and the yeasties are doing what yeasties do best :party:

big frothy top after 18 hours :clap:
 
:eek: Few lucky escape there Baz :thumb: The next problem you could have ..is it not clearing...That's what happened to those with the last lot of duff Nottingham!!! BUT..Lets be positive..Fingers crossed :thumb:
 
Thanks for the heads up Barry, I bought a couple of packs a few weeks back and used one in last Sundays brew.
Just checked the remaining pack and its one on the recall list :x .... Brew seems fine though, so will ponder whether to use the remaining offender :wha:
