Not all wagon drivers are idiots.

As many drivers and cyclists believe.

So often we see or share videos of awful driving around cyclists, so this textbook pass from an exceptionally patient & careful HGV driver for D&W Agri coming into Jedburgh deserves sharing, as does Rhoda's response! They're not on Twitter but we've thanked the haulier directly.

I now drive a truck for a living and believe me in the 2 1/2 thousand miles I drive in a week, apart from the constant road closures due to roadworks and speed cameras set at 40 for no reason, the biggest pain is CAR drivers cutting you up cause they miss their junction. Car drivers driving at 50 on a motorway causing tailbacks and trucks have too overtake them causing bigger tailbacks and cars crashing cause they cannot adapt to road conditions and speed restrictions.
I’m not saying all truck drivers are saints, far from it, but if you spend you working day driving on our road network, ***** car drivers far outweigh ***** truck drivers.
That being said, what kind of ***** let’s a young child on a road frequented by so many trucks.

She isn't riding alone she is also on one of the bikes below which is attached to the parents bike we used to have one and it was brilliant.

This is the video showing the truck passing which she gives the thumbs up to you can see she is not steering.

The only beef I have with lorry drivers is when they attempt to overtake each other on an uphill stretch of a 2-lane A-road and take 15 minutes to complete it leaving an epic tailback in their wake. Other than that they're some of the most skilled drivers out there and they do look out not just for each other but other drivers as well. Car drivers are generally much worse.

I think we all hate the wagon drivers slow overtake manoeuvres but if your car was 5 MPH faster than the one in front because yours was empty and the one in front had four adults and a full boot would you sit behind it until it eventually turned off the road or overtake it when possible?

I agree totally. The truck overtaking is always right to do so. In times past, the driver being overtaken would just dip his brake or turn off his cruise control for a few seconds and let him past but now with the influx of ‘other’ drivers, and a general lack of common courtesy in today’s day and age this doesn’t happen. I regularly lean on my horn to let ignorant drivers know I’m not pleased.

A few weeks ago I was on the A34 South of Oxford towing our trailer tent. At the bottom of a steep hill at a little more than I should have been doing an artic with a gas tank container unit overtook me, he must have been doing over 70 but then started to loose speed at the bottom, I braked to let him in only for him to slow to 40 going up the other side. He continued to fly down the next hill in the same way.

That guy was an *****....
