Great Forum Packed with useful information.

But what would you say is the most important things to consider when making our first brew?

There's a lot of pre-made packages out there but would it be a good idea to be a bit adventurous and try mixing out own malt/hops?

Hopefully this isn't too stupid a question as we have no idea what we're doing.

if i were you id probably go for the 2 can kit as a starter at least you will get a feel of how the brewing process works then you could always try using a different yeast to the one in the kit also you could try adding some hops to the fermenter during fermentation

The most important thing?

Enjoying the hobby!

A close second would be getting a good cleaning and sanitizing routine going.
the rest will fall into place with time.
Home brewing can be as simple or complicated as you like.

Good luck :-)
