According to THIS the northern lights may be visible tonight due to some unusually high solar activity...keep your eyes and cameras peeled! :)
 
Thanks for that, I will take a look from time to time but you can almost guarantee 100% cloud cover whenever anyone tells you about an eclipse / meteor shower / any other astronomical phenomenon. Currently only 50% cloud here.

I've seen the Northern Lights while on holiday on Orkney and they can be quite spectacular, but I've never seen them any further south.
 
can hardly see the stars in Manchester, but my parents are just north of Lancaster so maybe they'll be lucky!
 
Apparently they were a bit less good than expected last night and tonight should be better. The meteorology however conspires against us... :(
 
Sky cleared in patches over Tod towards midnight, could see a few stars, but no sign of aurora

Anybody up for chartering a plane to Iceland?
