A lot of recipes call for both Northern brewer and Northdown.
As I have a plentifull supply of Northdown and no easy access to Nortehrn Brewer (Im a tight jock git and refuse to be stung by my HBS) I feel the urge to ask how big a difference is there between the two hops.
Reasearch would indicate that one is a replacement for the other and they are more closely related than half the population of my quiant Somerset village - If you get my drift ;)
Will it make any great difference if I replace Northern brewer in a recipe with Northdown?
Im kind of Keen to Give Tard a go , but will Northdown do the trick?

i've never use northdown but theres no reason why you can't try it. if you match the IBUs of the original recipe all should be fine ;)

I've used both and i much prefer Northdown. To me Northern Brewer is quite similar to Sticklebract but without the pine and citrus notes. Sticklebract are easy and cheap for me to buy whereas Northern Brewer are expensive.
