Evening all,
I've been eyeing up the Nordic Thermobox as a possible candidates for a brewinthebag boiler. I've looked at the Mash tun conversion elsewhere and wondered if anyone had taken the conversion further and included heaters to turn one into a boiler.

Any thoughts?

What do you use in the way of elements for that?

It is one of those 'pig-tail' type ones.
It only needs two 13mm holes.....I think, as it wasn't me that converted it.
3.2KW IIRC, does the job well for me.

I've use pigtail elements for my boiler, but I used Burco element for my HLT Both 3KW ;)

The Burco type required a 38mm hole in the base of the vessel which is probably the easy way to convert it . . .the pigtail elements although requiring 13mm holes are a little more tricky as you have to use a waterproof electrical box mounted through the side wall to make enough room for the extra length of the connections Conversion Details Here

Cheers AM, I've seen that thread and am pondering a similar build, although I have the skills of a blind chimp at this sort of thing. Question to mark was to try and guage what my sizing options might be.

Lots of useful information here. Thanks all for the replies.

One further question if I may; how do you control the temp for a 'rolling boil'? I can think of a few solutions, but my brain being what it is, they are all complicated and will require MATHS from me. I'm rather hoping someone has come up with a simple solution :)

Thanks again

Beardy.
