Hi All. I'm a huge beer fan but am quite new to home brewing. I'm currently brewing my 5th batch. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this forum. I am a real ale fan and also particularly like spontaneously fermented Belgian beer and American IPA's / Imperial stouts. I have just finished a Woodfordes Wherry kit brew to which I added a buttload of Northern Brewer hops. The current brew is from an NZ stout kit which already used my favourite Nelson Sauvin hops and then I added the rest of the Northern Brewers. I would love to make a US style imperial stout but just wanted to get a couple of brews down as I am new to the area and didn't want to ship too much extra stuff from Ely where we lived previously. I'm working up to trying to make a lambic as well

I have a couple of like-minded friends staying with us for the weekend and would like to do a brewery tour or two while they're here. Can anyone suggest a few good options? I love Stewarts beers but they only seem to do tours on Thursdays and my friends are only here Sat and Sun.

Cheers all,

Benjii. :drink:

Hi, welcome to the forum.

There are not really many breweries in the Edinburgh area so it's going to be difficult to find something for a weekend. You could enquire about a tour at The Gothenburg in Prestonpans. It's a small brewery but there is a lot of history there.

Hi and welcome to the forum Ben  (not calling you Benji, as I have one already in the house)

Thanks everyone for the welcome and advice. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be able to arrange a brewery tour for this weekend but I think I'll show my friends around some of the real ale pubs outside of the city and then head out to the Gothenburg (thanks Dunfie :thumb:). I'm guessing it's going to be pretty crazy in town with the festival about to begin!
