Hi all. I recently purchased one of the Woodforde Wherry kits that has been referenced elsewhere on this forum. It went into it's pressure barrel about a week and a half ago. Obviously it has a way to go yet but I did have a cheeky sample yesterday. The beer is cloudy, flat but the taste is remarkably good. Will the other two issues take care of themselves over time does anyone know or have I slipped up??

Thanks in advance

Russ

Hi and welcome to the forum. Where has the barrel been since you filled it? It will need at least a week (and more like 2) in the warm followed by a similar time in the cold for it to properly carbonate. It will clear in time.

Thanks for that. It was in the warm for 2-3 days and is currently in a cool and dark corner. I think a little more patience from my end might be key and not to follow the manufacturers instructions too literally. Thanks again

Yes, the Wherry instructions are very optimistic on their times - 2 days to carbonate is ridiculous, in my experience. I only bottle my beer and I always include some plastic bottles. With these you can tell how well carbonated it is by how hard the bottle gets. This way I know when they are ready to move back into the garage. It usually takes 10 days.
