Hi All ,

Just stared my first brew yesterday using a kit my son bought me.
However , I didnt t realise I needed more time to complete the brew so I only got to the stage where I have the sivved Wort and which has not been boiled as yet .
So the sivved cold wort is currently sat in my pan now which is cold .
My question is , can I recommence the process by warming the wort and bringing to the boil for the hour required adding the hops etc .

Any advice appreciated

Steve

Hi, assuming it was an all grain kit with hops, you will need to boil the wort for the prescribed time in the instructions (usually 60 mins); and add the hops at the correct schedule. I don't think any harm will have been done by letting it cool. If it's liquid malt with hops already added, and the grain is just for steeping, then it doesn't need boiling.
With regard to chilling, it can be covered and left overnight to cool to pitching temperature. This has a slight effect on hop utilisation, but not enough to worry about.

Yeah it'll be fine. But you need to make plans on how to chill it quickly to the temp you need for pitching the yeast and that after boiling everything that touches the wort must be sterile.
Thanks Clint , much appreciated
