Hi Everyone,
First post and new to brewing beer. Always fancied doing some but never got around to it. Have done plenty of wine (some good, some bad) from kits. I love projects so I going to change my shed around soon (Easter holidays) to accommodate a kegerator to hold a couple of kegs. Been looking and there is a bit of confusing info out there, different lines, different taps etc. Do I need one of these nuts or one of these bits etc. Where can I get gas from?
My question is, is there any kind of list that I can follow so I don't order stuff I don't need and stuff I may miss?
Thanks
Albert

I'd suggest getting a starter kit from brewkegtap (malt miller do one too, and other places too). 2 Kegs with taps and connectors/regulator, lines etc for a bit over 200 quid. Can't grumble and you could end up spending a lot more in postage buying cheaper bits from other sources. That will get you everything you need to get set up and you can obviously buy any extra stuff you will decide you need later on.

Your other option is to keep your eye open on Facebook marketplace. I often see full kits on there with multiple kegs for half the price you'd pay brand new.

Gas - it depends where you are based but search "[insert place name] co2 cylinder 6.5kg" in Google and ring whatever company comes up and get a quote. Mine was 50 quid deposit then it's 15 quid (delivered to my door) to swap the empty for a full every year (unless there is a leak).

I would say it all depends on how frequently you will brew as to how many kegs you will need. I have 2 but its not that often both have beer in them at same time. as mentioned starter kits are good place to look as you will get everything you need, a kegerator isnt cheap so maybe look on ebay or FB marketplace mine cost 500 Eur with no taps that was another 200 quid for a 3 tap font. You can buy an old fridge and just convert it with lines and taps if DIY is your thing.
Gas some people use soda stream bottles but make sure you get a regulator a lot of home DIY shops may also have CO2 bottles you buy the bottle then you can just have it refilled. Pet shops that do aquariums also usually have CO2 refill capabilities.

I guess my other question is are you planning using your wine making equipment to brew beer?.

Hi
Thanks for the replies, DIY is my thing and look forward to doing stuff like this.
SMCC, Yes I am planning using some of my other stuff for brewing. I have a 'Spiritworks boiler/still' so im hoping this will help.
F-T, thanks I will have a look on 'Brewkegtaps' website and have a look.
