Hello all,

As I'm new I thought that I would introduce myself a bit....

I'm from Scotland and recently made some Perry from scratch, having acquired some pears for free from a local orchard. I was amazed how much I enjoyed the process and so have been looking into developing HB as a hobby.

My initial introduction to making home brewed alcohol was a little different though. Last year I was helping the Polish military out in Afghanistan where there was a booze ban, however the Poles being an industrious people were making homebrew using some weird and wacky ingredients. The results were not altogether unpleasant and I decided that I would have a go!

Hopefully I'll have another batch on the go soon....fancy a beer this time!

Cheers for now.

welcome, what kind of drinks did they make?

They would turn anything sugary into brews and then blend them into something drinkable which was always named 'Chateaux Le Ghazni' after the town where our base was situated.

However the were also fond of procuring some of the alcohol that was used to clean the optical heads of their helicopters and drinking that....

Thanks all for the warm welcome!
