Hello.
Just a few lines to introduce myself.
I live in a small village near Wellington in Somerset, surrounded by breweries of all sizes who unfortunately are not producing at the moment for obvious reasons.
My favourites being Otter brewery, particularly their Ale and bitter, and also Quantock brewery.
My all time favourite ale though is London Pride and my ambition is to one day brew something like it.
I am a complete beginner to home brewing but i am an enthusiastic learner, with that in mind i am going to start with a Woodford Wherry kit just to see how it goes.
I look forward to "meeting" you and picking your brains along the way.

Hello and welcome. I’m a relative Newbie too. I’ve learnt a lot from the forum and I also find YouTube to be a good source. It’s good fun. I’m brewing kits at the moment and I’m currently building up stock for the summer BBQ season. Enjoy.

Hi there welcome to the forum and a great hobby I have only been brewing for about a year so a newbie too I have also been trying to build up a stock but alas it doesn't seem to be working. Keep everything clean and be patient that's what I Keep telling myself and if you're unsure just ask there's always someone here to help.

Welcome to the forum athumb.. Never done a wherry kit myself but from what I've seen it's a very good starting point

Welcome Sid.
What is it about London Pride that makes you prefer it above your local brews?
Wherry's a good starting point.
I reckon you're in the heart of ciderland there. Nothing I like better than a pint or two of proper cider. I have to finish it off with a beer, though, if I can still stand.

Hi Syd

Welcome!
Beautiful part of the country - my son lives in Taunton, so really looking forward to being able to get down there again (and enjoy a glass or two of Sheppy's).
I have a Wherry going at the moment. It's one of the simpler kits (ie no additional hops required), but nevertheless one which yields good, very drinkable results.

There are so many directions you can take this immersive and productive hobby, and as a fairly new boy myself, the folk on this forum are so very friendly and helpful, you'll never get stuck!

Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum, Syd- a great resource for you on your brewing journey!! Several people, in the past (myself included) have experienced stuck fermentation, so it may be worth investing in some extra yeast sachets in case it happens to you. They'll all get used once you get stuck into this great hobby- good luck with your first brew!!

Thanks for the welcome. I travel up to London regularly (or used to) and pass the Griffin brewery on the way in, so stopped and visited the Mawsons arms next door, been hooked ever since. Having said that I do really like Otter Ale and it is brewed very close to me.
I live a mile away from Sheppy’s cider and a relative works there, so usually a few “samples“ available.
just finished my fermenting fridge so Wherry will be in tomorrow.
Thanks again. syd

Thank you for the advice. I notice a few people have had a problem with wherry sticking.

Thanks Merkin. I live about a mile from Sheppy’s cider. As you say, beautiful place.
I do tend to get immersed into hobbies once I start, so really looking forward to getting the Wherry in tomorroW.

Hi and welcome to the forum.I recently brewed a Wherry Amber Ale and I'm personally not a lover though I did change out the yeast which would make a difference though it's starting to come into itself with a bit of conditioning.Happy Brewing.

Good luck Syd, you have entered the rabbit hole. This time next year you will be asking how to build your own keg system 😂 Great advice on here and YouTube. I hope you enjoyed chemistry at school?
I used to love Smuggled Otter from the Otter brewery but sadly they don’t seem to make it any more.
