Hi!
Just noticed on the iPad that the menu bar at the top of the page scrolls left and right. (Doh!)
"New Posts" is on the extreme right of the bar.

I wondered if it was a mobile problem as I can see it on my PC.

Don't care what it looks like, but it's taken me 24 hours to get back on - it wasn't broke - so why fix it

It was not broken but needed updating for more info please take the time to read Angie's reply to Terrym's question in the teething trouble thread in the support forum.

Just because it wasn't broken doesn't mean it can't be improved. And outdated software can be dangerous from a security perspective, not to mention that as browsers are updated and improved old software becomes incompatible with them. It had to be updated at some point.

This will take some getting used, but it's hardly the end of the world. 24 hours later and I'm able to use the forum exactly as I used to. I think the admins have done a good job. I work for a software company, and that's a quick turnaround.

Ye I'm starting to like it. Unlike yesterday when I got the impression I'd been banned, lol. Give it a little time and the old format will seem, well, old.

Now most of the initial problems have been quickly fixed I'm liking it.

My initial concern was that it would take an age to sort all the issues. (vote changed)

I've already forgotten what the old format looked like. It's like when you walk past a new building and after a short while you can't for the life of you remember what was there before.

Another advantage of the new software - when you click on a thread it automatically takes you to the first unread post. The other forum I post on does this and having to scroll down the thread to get to where you left it was something I used to hate about the old HBF.

It's KRAP!

It "dumbs down" the Forum to a level where only a moron could think it was an improvement!

:thumb: :thumb:
I must be a moron then, because I like it 100x better. No idea how it has been “dumbed down” either!

I think bearing in mind the positive response we have received in the short time the new forum has been running and all the hard work that has gone in to sorting out the teething problems it was a moronic thing to post!

.

The poll question was why and this is the answer from Angie to Terry in the teething trouble thread as i have requested any member who is having problems should post in that thread i am, closing this thread.

Hello Terry,

You ask a very good question as we all love to stay with software that we know and are familiar with, me included. The old vB software was outdated and didn't have the security features and some nice member features that this software has. This is now a secure site which is what the main internet browsers are asking for these days.
Also, we have better settings to discourage spammers, and banned people getting back into the site. Those are two of the main reasons.

A member feature that is really liked by all is to be able to copy and paste an image from one area into a post here. Or upload from your computer or put in the url address from a photo to a post and have it show.

The Private Messages are now called Conversations and are like a thread in a forum.
Check your Profile Preferences to see if every thread you post becomes watched, also check your alerts to see if you get them in email or just here.

At this time, I'm working out issues in the back ground to make this as much like your old home, but with the improvements. It has been 16 hours since I was notified the conversion was happening, so give me at least a day or two of working with all of you to make this feel more like home.
