Hi all!

26 year old guy here, musician by trade! I've been a big fan of real ales for years, especially of the pale variety although I love the odd dark one too. Also partial to a stout and good continental lager too! My other half bought me a home brew kit for Christmas - it's one from Ballihoo, a kit to make Simply Ginger Beer. Got the following so far before starting my brew:

1 x Fermentation Bin
1 x Simply Ginger Beer syrup pouch
1 x sachet yeast
1 x 1kg Beer Enhancer sugar
1 x Hydrometer
1 x Syphon
1 x Mixing Spoon
1 x Sterilisation Fluid

In the process of getting the following and could use some recommendations for best to buy:

1 x Beer Keg
24 x Beer Bottles

Also - is there anything else I should be considering? Would ideally like to be making a couple of brews at a time to share with friends and family :)

Any help much appreciated :)

Cheers

Danny

howdy, welcome :) musician here too! not quite by trade, but almost there.

beer bottles, try to collect them. kopparberg, rekorderlig and magners bottles are particularly good. you need a capper and caps too. 2L bottles are easy (just over 10 to a 23L batch.)

beer keg, most people will recommend king kegs. i would try to get some cheapo's from gumtree/freecycle as second hand home brew equipment is dead cheap and scrubs up easily with some stain remover and sanitizer! I try to have 3 kegs full, that way you've got time to mature it properly and plenty of variety.
