New brewer help plz!

Hi Just s quick introduction my names Richard I have just brewed my first ever batch ( John bull IPA ) and I wondered on total time before its ready to drink? It's been brewing 5 day and it's not far off my hydrometers reading of bottle..

Hi , forget the instruction given with the brew , You should ferment beer at 18/20c , you should leave it alone for at least 2 weeks , then check with hydrometer 2 days running , if no change and reading is approx where expected (like 1008 etc) then it's ready to bottle . Bottle with sugar to prime ( gives yeast food to make co2 for fizz) leave bottles for 2 weeks at 20c ish then somewhere cool for another 2 weeks , only now will it be ready but longer time (like 4 to 6 weeks) and your beer will be nicer. Welcome.

+1... Longer the better in bottles. I had a coopers real ale that I bottled in March/April time. I had one on Saturday, and it was awesome. Not even a slight hint of it being a kit homebrew. Good luck

yup yu will av to go get 3 for a fiver at some local supermarket every night for a few weeks yet

Thanks for the replies guys :), I'm looking to keg rather than bottle I'd also like a flat brew. Would that effect time etc?.
