Muddydisco has kindly manufactured a piece of kit for me which will allow me to control fermentation temperature in my themobox, thus allowing me to use the thermo both as a tun and a fermenter.

Here it is :

Its a sheet of SS cut to the thermobox size with beer line around the edge to create a seal (not airtight but will keep the bugs out) MD has also added 3 latches so that I can secure it to the thermobox.

There is a probe which will be submerged in the beer this is connected to a TC10.

For heating there is a 55w aquarium heater and for cooling there are 2 SS coils which are connected to a beer line chiller.

I have already tested it just with water and it works great, it's going to be used to ferment todays brew.

Thanks again MD - Top work!

This addition is working a treat, it's fermenting 70L of beer at the moment. The initial 24hrs I set it to maintain 21c for the yeast to get going then dropped it to 18c.

The heat generated by the fermenting beer makes it climb from 18c to 19c over about a 5 hour period, once it hits 19c the chiller kicks in and it takes about 10 mins to get back to 18c.

 love it!

Fermentation is done and dusted on my last batch of beer, so at 2pm today I set it to crash cool to 5c, it's taken 70L from 18c to 5c in 4hrs, which I dont think is too bad
