Given ideal conditions a brew can ferment out in as little as 4 days. Doesn't happen often but the higher the temperature the quicker it'll finish, unless it's too high and you kill the yeast.
Two weeks is usually plenty of time for the yeast to clean up after itself. You can never rely on an airlock to tell you when fermentation is finished.
I've not had a good seal on a bucket since an old youngs one about 10 years ago. I've just invested in a couple of new ones but they've not been used in anger yet.
The only safe thing is to go by your hydrometer. It's your friend, the last thing you want is bottles exploding because you'd bottled too early
