This is a traditional firework night beer. The recipes with toast in them are kitchen recipes not brewing recipes. I've seen some with no malt at all!

I haven't got a recipe at hand - I'm not sure how much to put in! Some stuff has loads and others have handfuls :wha:

One thing I do know though is that it's best to get the leaves young at the start of summer.

You can use 100% nettles for bittering a beer but probably best to brew a 21IBU beer and add them in. So at least the beer will be bitter enough. Some modern commercial ones are golden ales with the hops pitched in during the last 15mins..you could at a load at the end of the boil and run the hot wort through them..

Hope that's usefull :?:

I think this one sounds interesting (though I haven't tried it so can't say how it might turn out):

Tempted to go bag up some of the millions of acres of nettle that grow around here but this late in the season, the tips probably won't be much good. Good luck though and, if you make it, please let us know how it turns out!
