Hi folks

Anybody used/tried NBS yeast from the maltmillers ?
I got a packet of NBS west coast style yeast and I'm thinking of trying it in a Crouch vale Amarillo clone
Just looking for some feedback, could email Rob and ask him but thought I'd throw it out on here instead :thumb:
Could it be Fermentis but re packaged maybe ;)

When are you going to brew Andy. I picked some Crouch vale yeast up this week and going to brew tomorrow. If it is like the last time, and goes mad, I could top crop some for you in a day or 2.

It's certainly something but it's not US-05. It brews just as clean but it sediments MUCH better. Once it's on the bottom of the bottle, that's where it's staying! IIRC it forms a quite similar gelatinous crust like US-05 though. It's a good clean yeast.

I've got an Arkells Kingsdown clone fermenting now with his English Ale Yeast. It's a bit of an animal, really got going quick...

...I used it for my first AG too, A hooky clone and that turned out bloomin' lovely.

For the price, you just can't go wrong. :thumb:

I will road test his other ones once I figure out what to do with them.

EDIT: Oh and I didn't bother with rehydration - I've adopted the Danstar approach - sprinkly onto wort, leave 20-30 mins, blitz with mixing paddle on battery drill. I'm not entirely sure that's what they meant by "mix into wort via aeration" but by heck it works... :lol:
