The brother-in-law had some arrive and planted them in pots in the green house. When they came up, and they came up rather quickly, they turned out to be some sort of Chinese giant bamboo that grows very rapidly and on all accounts can be extremely invasive, some reports even state they could become a threat to biodiversity if allowed to get "out into the wild". There has got to be a conspiracy in there somewhere? ;-)
All bamboo is invasive, clumping bamboo not so much. My brother in law planted some pretty close to his house. It started growing under the floor space of his lounge room and it wasn't long before all these lumps started appearing in his lounge room carpet. The bamboo had gone through the floor boards and were pushing up the carpet.

Legend has it that during the Vietnam war bamboo used to grow through the corpses left on the battlefield.

Japanese knotweed can make your house unsaleable, or at the very least cause major problems in selling, even if it’s not on your property and just nearby.

I’m not saying these seeds are Japanese knotweed, but if you’re unsure about a seed or plant’s species and origin, you should burn it.

Unless of course you don’t intend to move, hate your garden and neighbours and whoever has to deal with it after you. 😁
