Well i'm now on my way to having my own AG brewery. I have managed to hide a second FV from the Girlfriend, convinced her that my ordered mashtun is infact a car cooling box for our camping kit....all i have to do is somehow conceal my ordered 50L shiney HLT/Boiler. She does like making soup....or pehaps i can hide it somewhere else...i'm still thinking about it! :hmm:

The mission is that i hide it from the other half...still not go her a cat  with everything i am awaiting my punishment when she discovers it.

I'm also a secret brewer, but I work for myself and manage to hide all my kit in my workshop. However the kids want me to take them down and see the workshop and machinery and there is bits of brewery everywhere not to mention half the kitchen full of wine and beer.

She thinks I am brewing five gallon kits   little does she know I am brewing 60l all grain at a time.

Oh what a tangled web we weave...... and all that.

grays if she does ever go tto the workshop just say it belongs to a mate who cant do it at home and as you wanted to do it also you let him set it up in your workshop, saying it means I can have a go sometimes too without spending on the kit needed.

caerleon just buy her a big cheap alluminium stock pot or one of the stainless ones that come with 4 pots for £20
tell her its for the sopus and you will take the big one for beer as its too big for soup (20ltrs)

tehn when the 50ltr one comes put the the 20ltr one back and convice her the 50ltr one was the big one and you must have forgotten how big it was

That sounds like a plan, however i think I will just keep her away, after all It is my shed (a rather large one at 3500ft) or as my neighbour says Shanghai. I just tell the kids that it is very messy with lots of dangerous things lying around and not suitable for young children and dad is to busy to get it tided up (to busy brewing beer).

:D Oh yes indeed ... my wife thinks I brew 25 ltr batches for a fiver. Oh, and the 33 ltr FVs with taps and grommets cost £3.50. I'm not saying what I told her about the 50 ltr SS mash tun but she's still looking for the CC statement!

 Yes indeed .... you sound like you're looking forward to it. Errrmmmmm ... what sort of 'punishment' does she like to administer?

never leave a paper trail you need to pay cash for stuff (I know the credit card helps if things go wrong)
or at least paypal if its bought online ( you never give that out to missus do you)

and if you got to use cards then make all the staments online so they have no where to search and if they do you can have a righ old go at them for trying to get all your cash before doing a runner.

Yeah, i have several secret bank accounts with 'my' money stored away - she saw the statement once and questioned why i had so much cash and i managed to pursuade her that it's for a deposit for a house  since then brought a car and paid for a pilots licence

She also asked when we were getting married, i replied "When i find the right woman!" somehow i dont understand why but she took great exception to that comment

you probably wont get evicted if she asked you when you were getting married it means she has already decided that your her husband and you can then do pretty much as you please as long as its not cheating on her or makes her look stupid.

also if you need to hide new stuff just pretend you found it in a skip on your rounds or visit to the local dump so long as you ditch the box that is.
say isn't it funny what people throw away and it looks brand new too.
and ask her if you want you to look out for anything for her

off course there is allways freecycle to mention when you get stuff too.

**NEWS** My mashtun has been discovered at the Post Office collecting it tommorrow and hide it in the Car.

I always use cash, and if I have to buy anything online my brew partner pays for it then we split the cost. I did use my company credit card but SWMBO (and the one who does our company accounts) was getting suspicious of the amount of 'fittings' and 'hoses' I was buying for 'the compressor'. Mind you I think I have found a legitimate use for a pid at work, I need a temperature controlled drying area  .

Still weaving th tangled web.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one hiding my kit

MT will be here on the morrow as should be my HLT/Boiler will hopefully be here this week. Just thinking about the cooling options now...

I'm itching to get it working now.

I have always been up front about the big ticket items. Its all the other bits and bobs that mount up that I apply more stealth.

Things like pids, silicon hose, ball valves etc

I always buy stuff just after she has been shopping for clothes, she spends £100 I buy shiny, I now have **** loads of shiny!
