Hello,

I have had this fermenting now for a week and the hydrometer reading has stuck at 1022,
the temperature it has been fermenting at is between 20 and 26 according to my thermometer.

The brewing instructions says it should get down to 1014. I have stired it up, is there anything else i can do? this is my Christmas ale i would like to be drinking it around the festive period.

Any suggestions gratefully received

The temps are fine although I would personally try to keep it to the lower end of that range.

If you have seen no movement for day or two after stirring it up you should think about chucking in another sachet of ale yeast. Something like Safale S-04 or Nottingham would do the trick if you can get some.

Thanks for the reply,

Well it is slowly coming down, i checked it today and its hovering around the 1016/18 mark.
If it stops there i will try and get some more yeast to add to it.

Hi mate, just seen your posting - did you pitch more yeast? did you get the bugger to go down? I'm having a similar problem which ive posted above. Did you add more sugar when you pitched the yeast? Im quite dissapointed as i thought the muntons kit (for the price) would have been more than reliable
cheers
Mark
