Hi all

I came across the Old Hoppy Hen this Friday in my local real ale store so thought I'd give it a go. I't not sure if this is a very new product but I have never seen / tasted before.

I've always been a fan of Speckled and more recently the Golden Hen.

At first taste of this beer it does not taste that hoppy... Maybe I have killed my hop taste buds with the 50g Citra dry hops I do with my home brew LOL!

It does not taste dissimilar to Speckled Hen (had a couple just this weekend), I'm not sure if I would necessarily taste the difference if I had not had one for a while.

All in all, its a good beer as its m\de by the guys who make the well known brews above, however I would not buy this again personally. The name suggests something that it is not to me.. So it leaves me rather disappointed.

Anyone else tried it and have any thoughts?

Cheers - Dave

Yup tried it and was very underwhelmed.

I mean in an age of ultra hoppy ales, new world hops, and a more discerning drinker, you would think they would brew something a bit less 'meh'.

has any of this been fed back to Morland, hopefully they would take account of their customers opinions and maybe try to improve.

Havent tried this beer but love the golden hen nicest commercial beer I have had in ages
