Hi all
I need some help/ advice with my first brew. I used a BrewUk microbrewery kit with the Woodfordes Wherry beer mix. The timeline of the brew is as follows:
Sunday 16th August - Brew day. When complete, kept the beer in the study at a temperature of approx. 24-26 degrees (coolest place I could find at the time!) for 2 weeks
Sunday 30th August - Transferred beer to the pressure barrel and added sugar as per the instructions. Now kept in garage (currently at 18 degrees).
I drew some beer yesterday and it had a great head, it also tasted o.k. but was a little sweeter than I expected (i.e. not very bitter). The main problem though is that it hasn't cleared.
Does this mean that it is unlikely to clear after all of this time? Is there anything I can do to help it clear and also, is there likely to be something i have done wrong that I can avoid next time around?
Regarding the taste, is there a likely reason why the kit lacks bitterness? I followed the instructions to the letter.
Any/ all help is much appreciated.
regards
Roy
