Just checked on a certain website the Archer experimental hop, CF115 (almost my postcode) and Minstrel. Plus some German hop called Mandarina Baveria. Ended up ordering Archer, Minstrel and Mandarina. Anybody tried to brew with them? I'll give a go at golden ale with Archer pretty much as soon as it arrives.

Opened the Archer today to make a 2l beer-in-a-bottle test. I left 15g of hops (3 cups of 5g) in the kitchen for about an hour and when I got back there was a fairly pungent hop smell around, a tad citrusy. The hop additions released quite a bit of citrus and fruit aroma, maybe just a small tad of peach in there. Looking forwards to drink this in two weeks. Recipe: 210g light DME, 5g archer @ 15, 5g archer @ 5, 5g archer to steep half an hour a couple of minutes after flameout. It's roughly the standard I use for testing hops and in this case comes out at 25 IBU.

nice wee test, will add that to my arsenal- along with the budshizer test (uncap v cold bud, add pellet hop, recap sharpish, leave for suitable period inwarm, then test...) apperently its about the one good use for bud...

Second brew with Archer in it. Smells good but not impressed with the flavour. It ends up sour instead of bitter, with some faint lemon and a more displeasing strong orange rind (but without the fruity flavour). Maybe somebody else has a different experience but I'm unlikely to try it again.
