Thinking of buying a mini keg starter kit, but know nothing about them.

1. After priming can beer be kept the same length of time as in bottles.

2. Once the first pint is drawn off, how long will the remainder be good for.

The commercial kegs I've bought and drunk usually suggest 5 days on gravity feed. The CO2 replacing the beer instead of air would IMO extend the fresh life of the beer using the Party Star

If your lucky you can drag a week out of it. If your talking carbonation that is. But in terms of quality of the beer and it not going stale you'll get a week no problem. I make only lagers and when I tap into a keg on Thursday it'll last till Sunday with nice carbonation. Now go buy some. Leylandhomebrew are best on price.

If you use the party tap and therefore inject CO2 to fill the head space once the natural pressure has died down then surely it should be no different to any other pressure barrel and the beer should keep for weeks or even months?

That said it doesn't take long to get through 5L of beer :D
