As per the title. I fancy doing an overnight mash tonight to save time tomorrow.

Other than the obvious time saving aspect, what are the pros & cons to doing this?

Cool. What about the temp drop?

Will that cause issues?

What temp did you start the mash at and how much did the temp drop??

Righthy ho, brew is definitely happening. My plan is to brew a Ringwood Old Thumper and mash overnight. I'll sparge as soon as I get up, probably about 8am.

My plan is to drop 20L of boiling water into the mash tun from the HLT to pre-heat it. I'll let that sit for about an hour and then dump it. I'll then drop the hot liquor straight in, dough in, etc.

I'm aiming for a initial mash temp of 68c. It's a degree or two hotter than I would normally aim for but I expect about 6-8c loss overnight.

That's about it. Grain is weighed out and the water is in the HLT ready for me to switch it on. Aim to have it all done by about 11pm.

Aye - think that's definitely my plan. Sleeping bag round it with as many fleeces as I can find. Start at 66c and hope for the best.

As with all my brew days, there will be pics and a report. Keep your eyes peeled!
