Food free days or fasting as it's otherwise known is extremely good for you. There are multiple benefits from it apart from weight losss

If I go over four hours without food, I pass out. Same thing happens if I go without a cig for more than four minutes. That's not good for me.
 
Starving yourself isn't great because you get really hungry then eat twice as much as you should when you do eat...and crisps,pies,chocolate bars...

Thats only in the very short term. Hunger is controlled by an enzyme called ghrelin. The longer you dont eat the less ghrelin is produced and the less you feel hungry. Also many people confuse hunger with thirst. So they are in fact thirsty rather than hungry and eat when they should drink.
If you decide when you do eat, that your going to eat healthily rather than pies and crisps you'll be fine. It's just a matter of preperation and self disipline
