As a Noob I was considering a Mexican Cerveza kit from Coopers.

Most coopers kit allow fermentation at 21 to 27degrees

Does anyone know what the range is for this kit?

if it is lower than 20 degrees I wont be able to do it :(

thanks for all your advice! :thumb:

Surely with the summer being as it is you can find a spot that is in the range?? as I understand it a lower temp will generally give a slower ferment but will not stop it entirely so the kit make take longer to complete but should still work?

My ambient temperature where my fermenter is sat is around 22degrees.

If i wanted lower id have to go outside into the garage but with no electrics i wouldnt be able to employ my brew belt :(

FV: Coopers Lager
Conditioning: Coopers Aussie Pale Ale

Drinking: Canadian Blonde

Next brew: St Peters Ruby red ale

Did you just do rest as per instructions, as i hear about people using Limes in their kits.

Yep I did it as normal, although someone I know used two kits together, some elderflowers in a muslin bag and some more hops. Apparently it came out very well, although I've not tried it

Hi mate.

I made a batch of this a few weeks ago...kept the temperature at between 24 and 26 and it turned out GRRRRRRRRREAT so your's will be fine...I have to say thought that I think both the Canadian blond and the Australian lager are nicer brews but to each their own...enjoy.

This kit comes with a beer yeast rather than a lager yeast, si fermenting at higher temperatures will work ok.

I did this kit with a lager yeast, have recently started to drink it and it's awesome. Takes longer to do with lager yeast, but results are incomparable to the same kit with ale/beer yeast.

@shearclass

Using a LAger yeast did you have to ferment at a lower temperature?

:)

Yes mate, but if you cant acheive lower temperatures, then may as well use an ale yeast.

I think it will taste better with lager yeast, but i may not be easy to do it without proper temperature control in the summer. i have some fermenting now in the garage at about 16 - 17 degrees, which is too warm, should be about 12 degrees. I did The mexican cerveza in march (i think) when the garage temperature was ideal for lager.

Thanks for the advice

I think I know what im brewing through the winter!!

Enough Lager kits to get me through Summer hahahaha

Will have to invest in a second fermenting bucket

Me too! I only started home brewing in January, and i started off knowing absolutely nothing, so by the time i realised this abotu the lager yeast it was too late. I plan to do lots and lots of lager this winter!

Or alternatively try and get some sort of temperature control linked to my fridge to use it as a heater/cooler as required :wha:
