My only comment on the design would be how close you are to the sides. Just wondering if the sparge water would drill down the sides, but apart from that it looks good.

That's what I thought based on the designs I've seen and from what I've read about constructing a mash tun; however, I haven't made one, so wouldn't know for sure. In any case, if it turns out that the sparge water tends to go along the sides and not rise the grain bed properly, an easy fix, unless it's been soldered together (which I gather isn't necessary), is to simply shorten the cross-wise pipes by sawing all the way through at one of the slits and re-assemble. But for your sanity, I hope it works as is. And I admire your perseverance!

Can I ask a question, I'm building my MT. I was thinking of trying to drill lots of holes rather than hacksawing slits. Should I only drill on the upper surface or would holes on the underside help reduce the dead space?

i think its ment to holes for hop filter or use a steel braid hose thing i did
and hack saw cuts for mash tun :thumb:

also are those solder fittings lead free solder ???????????????????

Ok, hacksaw cuts it is! Not looking foreward to that job. Did you make cuts just in the upper surface?

Yeah the flux is definatlety lead free, got it from the water pipe section at B and Q
