Very interesting read - I had wondered about the impact of starting a mash 'cold' - adding the grain before my all in one is turned on, then allowing to heat to mash temp - I wondered if this would shorten the mash, or have any other benefits. But since I normally brew very early, I currently set up the water the night before and put it on a timer - where as this would add an hour to my morning as my water gets up to temp
