Hi UP hows you ?
just did a google Pedigree clone search and up you popped. So how did it turn out and if good can you let me have the recipe please ?
Did a double brew yesterday 6.30 till 2.00, in the 25 litre pilot brewery kit, one of Gobnoblin clone, think I got that right :? ;) and one of Guiness clone. :D .
I did my first "goblin" less than three weeks ago and its pretty good already, bit dark but amended that yesterday. just finished a pint really good, think I will wander down to the Brewery and get another. :D

The Pedigree turned out great, tasted nothing like bottled pedigree though thank god, I tried a bottle of the comercial stuff against it and the commercial went down the sink.

Recipe is easy

23ltrs
3.5kg pale
500g sugar
60g black malt
hops
35g wgv fwh
23g fuggle fwh

23g wgv 10mins

90mins boil mash 66

yeast WP burton ale yeast.

Thanks for the recipe UP

Not got any black malt in stock, never had for that matter, will a spot of chocolate and roast barley be close enough seeing as the quantity required is quite low ?

Just use the chocolate and up the quantity a smidge.

I have set it up on my spreadsheet, ready for action at the weekend.

Have just had a couple of pints of this tonight, have not touched it for over a week, and it is turning into a really good beer, in fact a great beer, it seems to have fermented out a bit more, (even though its in the cold cold garage).

Brewed this last Tuesday, started off and then found out I was short of malt, so off to HB Shop :)
Due the delayed start and the resulting late finish I forgot to put the sugar into the boiler :? Don't normally use sugar but followed the recipe, confusion may also have been caused by a relaxing couple of bottles of Guiness and Hobgoblin clone. ;) and being hungry and Mrs S. saying dinner was ready.
Anyway I have got 22 litres at 4.4% tasting very promising at this stage :D
Frozen up again, behind the pack again in draining down the brewery supply  but next week after the celebrations, brewing planned big time :D (usually turn it off in the house open a drain cock and blow water out from the brewery end with compressed air )
Got that oatmeal stout that Wez mentioned, a couple of weeks ago, in mind also :hmm:
Thanks for recipe UP

Is there a big difference between Whitbread goldings and Goldings or is it just subtle?

Definitely a difference Jim, Whitbread Goldings flavour is a little more earthy robust, its not a true golding, flavour sits sort of between a golding and a fuggle.

A nice hop in my opinion, I am definitely going to make this one again, it went down very well, too well really wish I had some left for chrimbo. :(

Plenty of other stuff about me though at the mo :D :thumb:

Pedegree down the sink? But that is my favourite beer in the world! Am I missing something?

Could you give me an extract brew recipe I can use to make your 'better than pedigree' brew?
