I haven't read the full article but assume pubs closing every day all over the country isn't helping, started in 1875 what a shame it's comecto an end.

It ends almost 200 years of brewing heritage, which began with Banks and Company at the Park Brewery in Wolverhampton in 1875

The thing is, they are selling off the brewing to concentrate on their chain of pubs.

You obviously haven’t read the article because the breweries aren’t closing, they’ve just gone from being 40% owned by Carlsberg to 100% owned by them.

Whether they end up ruining the existing beers is another matter, but it doesn’t “end almost 200 years of brewing heritage”.

Ah well, bang goes another part of my beer-drinking youth (along with Bass, Shippo's, Ruddles, Home an' Hardy-Hanson ... etc?).

I better re-double efforts to keep me homebrew going.

Marstons have a really weird business strategy... buy up all the small breweries, then mess around with them before shutting them down, and now they're leaving the game.

Has someone from Carlsberg been working behind the scenes all along planning world domination
