Im very much a traditional bitter man and generally eschew the American influenced "craft beers'. Anyway not here to debate that but more to report on how much I just enjoyed a pint of Marstons 61 deep which seemed to be some kind of happy middle ground between the two. i.e. something that looks like a pint of bitter but has some of these new world hop flavours going on.

Anyone tried this? Anyone know the cocktail of hops - says on Marstons website 5 american and sustralian hops?

I've had it quite a few times and love it. Some breweries will give you the information you need. I remember some years ago that the brewer at Deuchars gave someone a recipe for their IPA and even suggested how to make it in a small batch. Might be worth an Email (?)

Old thread I realise but I'm currently in Oxford in the sweltering heat sampling this one right now. I brew a lot of apa/golden ales myself so have been keen to sample a number of the local offerings. This one is an absolute winner. I'd really like to reproduce this USA/Aussie hop combo...

"The other night I tried a pint of Marstons 61 Deep, which is apparently named after the depth of their brewery well.
I think they should have left it there.
Arguably the worst pint I have ever had from their Burton brewery."

Sitting in my local as I've stupidly left myself dry while some condition :( I've got a ghost ship clone bottle conditioning but I'd love to give this one ago. Fingers crossed some genius comes up with a recipe

Old Thread I know but Clint mate have you since tried it on tap ? It's a lovely drop, I'm quite fond of it to be honest, but I have to travel several miles to get this on tap, however worth every mile

It's a much nicer drop on cask than bottle. I want a clone recipe badly but only have a corny so it might not be worth the effort!!

I found this on cask last night, thought it was a really good pint. I second cerbera84, if you can find their pearl jet stout give it a try. Swmbo and myself tried it as part of a 'taste of Staffordshire' 4 course menu where they paired a different de14 beer with each course.

Was drinking a pint of this just an hour ago whilst having a meal out with the lively mrsnicks90
Was a good glass of beer!

Defo something if like to have a go at myself

Might have to pop down for a marstons brewery tour the next weekend I get off to see if I can interrogate answers out of any unsuspecting brewers that I find. Maybe I'll get lucky
