So, I done a plain ol' pale ale on saturday in the grainy. At the brewshop I asked for English Ale WLP005 but they was out of stock (As were most of the leaf hops I needed, ended up with pellets and a different variety). I thought about getting dried yeast but the guy said I have a liquid burton ale WLP023 that's just gone out of date (15.10.15) and he asured me it'd be all ok and hunky dorey. So, I bought it at a slightly reduced price as I thought Burton would make a nice fruity pale and if the guy says it'd be ok, he's the expert, it'd be ok!

Pitched it Saturday afternoon at 20c. Sunday evening, nothing.. checked temprature, 20c.

Just come home from work and checked... Still nothing! Water levels still equal in the airlock, temp still 20c.

Hope it'll be ok if I buy some more from somewhere else that's in date!

Did you make a starter? If you didn't you really should of if the vial was out of date

I pitched another vile straight in and it's not stopped! :)

Are you getting any eggy/farty/sulphur smells? When I bottled cultured up the yeast from a bottle of Brakspear triple (which may or may not be the same strain as WLP023) it stunk the flat out for 3 days

No pongs from this MyQul. Seems to be going fine. Temp is at a steady 20c. I'm just wondering about dry hopping it. It seems to be that everyone says after about four days but for some reason my brews take between two to three weeks (one even longer!) for them to stop bubbling. So if I dry hop at 4 days I don't want any leaf or pellet in there for two or three weeks!
