i brew kits. i am bottling tonight.

is there any use for the sludge i get at the bottom of my tub? what benefits would there be in using this stuff in a future brew?

thanks for any tips or advice

I'd be interested in this as last night I kegged a Wherry kit (last of my kits! extract now and AG soon...) and scooped up a pint of sludge and popped it in the fridge...

From what little I know, it's a case of letting it settle and slowly decanting until you're left with just yeast. That right? :)
 
If your using dried yeast and sugar in your beer dont bother keeping the trub at the bottom of the fv. If you use a liquid yeast you can keep it for your next brew if its suitable. There is a thread on the forum somewhere on how to do this. :D
 
Yeah, sanitize everything like your OCD and keep the slurry. If you want to go a stage further, do a search for yeast washing - but generally, you can keep it in the 'fridge for a few months and use it again (I wouldn't do this more than half a dozen times with a yeast though).
