I seem to remember some time ago that there was a thread about making wine in 5 gallon batches but I cant find it. Ring any bells with anyone?

What do you want to know? What are you making?

If you've got a 1 gallon recipe, simply scale up everything with the possible exception of the yeast, I use one level tsp for a gallon and 1 level tbsp for 5 gals.

Otherwise, go for it :thumb:

As the saying goes, 5 gallons takes no longer to make than 1 gallon, and lasts nearly twice as long.

Thanks guys. Its a juice wine (Grape & Peach) that we particularly enjoy so I thought I'd scale it up.

That's more or less what I've done Moley. It just seems to be taking a little while to get going. Its been 4 days since I pitched the yeast but I suppose its ok for a short while longer,

So if its just scaling up is that for all the chemicals? for example Glycerine will be 5 tsp and tannin 2.5 tsp, sugar x5 and juices x5. Thinking of doing a 5gal orange wow

The good thing with scaling up to 5 gal is that you can easily vary the juice mix. Try using 2 lt apple juice and 3 OJ. Or let your imagination run wild. No need to just stick with 5 x 1 gal recipes.

Get one of THESE. Great for use as a primary fermenter. £4.99 with free shipping

Still no signs of life in this. Think I'll give another day and maybe pitch in some more yeast :hmm:
