Hey, ive just started home brew. My first batchs OG was only 1.028 and I got the FG at 1.006 so it's a pretty low ABV. I think I added too much mineral water to the wort before fermentation.

Any advice for the future? :wha:

was the wort hot when taking the og reading? if so it wouldnt be the correct reading there are gravity/temp calculators here on the forum. :)

I used 3.5 kg of malt, to around 15 Liters water(3kg of pale malt & .5 of crystal) I mashed for 1 hour and then sparged about 2 liters

The wort wasn't hot, maybe 30 c at most, My fermentation was also vigourous the 1st day and then slowed way down

The usual advice given in the UK is to mash at a 2.5:1 ratio. So about 9L might have given you a slightly higher efficiency.
