Hopefully someone can help me with this.

I did an extract brew today, 2.25kg dark liquid malt extract, 200g caramalt, 100g torrefied wheat. Steeped for 30 mins, them boiled for 60mins with 1.5 ounces of challenger. This was then made up to 18L with cold water.

According to beercalculus this should have come out at about 1.045-1.050, but im getting an OG reading of 1.020
have i done something wrong?

would it be wort topping up with sugar?

With malt extract syrup, the sugar is almost definitely in there so don't sweat.

You probably didn't stir properly, it's massively common with extract brews. Go by your calcs, it's in there and the yeast will find it.

+1 to that Rob

Did a kit recently that i'd added some spray malt to and the og reading was lower than i thought it would be :wha: but after a jolly good stir and re-testing it came out a fair bit higher :thumb:
