Hi guys, just opened first 1lt bottle of lager tastes fine but has no head and no fizz, is it possible to re-prime bottles with a little more sugar, if so how much should I put in or should I drink it as it is.

I do think you really want to be opening the bottles now, other than to drink it.

Where have you left them and for how long? How much sugar did you use to prime?

Put them in the warm for a week or two then back out into the cold, you really need a fair bit of time between bottling and drinking, as Joey asked when did you bottle them :?:

how much sugar did you put in them to begin with? ,how long have you left them? and at what temperature have they been sitting in ?,need to know this first mate ,should be batch priming 23ltrs with about 200g sugar for a lager to give it a nice fizz dont worry about it though did it with my last brew but it doesnt effect the taste just drank the last 5 bottles last nite, crack the bottles open and stick 8.5g of sugar in them if they are a litre bottle stick them at room temp for 2weeks then into a cool room for another couple of week min try leaving it 6 weeks for best effect and conditioning good luck and let me know how you get on :thumb:

hi, I put 2 teaspoons per litre bottle left at around 18-20 degrees for about 5 days then moved them down into my cellar which is around 15 degrees at the moment, thanks

yeah bring them back into the room temp 20-24c for 2weeks then put them in a cool place need to give them time to prime up if its to cold the yeast doesnt do its job it sits dormont :thumb:

thanks guys, I've already brought them back up to the warmth of 20 degrees and can already see a little action in the bottles it's only very slight but it's there, I just did what it said in the instructions, my last batch was ok but I must admit I did try a different yeast this time it was some kind of yeast called gold or something it's supposed to set like a jelly in the bottom of the bottle so it doesn't disturb as you pour, can I also ask I always pour the full litre into a jug the first pint is always full of fizz but the second class is practically flat, is this normal ? thanks again guys

yeah thats normal just pour a pint at a time putting the lid on after the first one you should see a difference with the fizz
