A friend and I went to a tasting session on Saturday at Lovibonds in Henley which they call the Beer school.
Jeff the owner is an American and is about as passionate a brewer you could find here in UK.
Coming himself from a homebrewing background it was refreshing to find someone whose primary focus wasn't 'the bottom line' and was open to sharing recipes.
His beers are a mix of wheats, Ambers, Porter and IPA of which the '69' IPA is deceptively strong at 6.9% and so drinkable.
The double entendre aside, his dark IPA, Dirty 69 is as good using a German type dark malt for colour mainly without the toasty notes from traditional UK dark malts.
A friend and I attempted a 69 IPA clone yesterday which probably wasn't wise as the first time brew on a 100l 3 vessel setup but look forward to seeing how it comes out.
