Hi Everybody,

I just got my Coopers DIY kit, and yesterday I started my first ever batch of home-brewed beer. I put the yeast in last night around 6pm, and by this morning sure enough there was some foam on the top, so I'm guessing fermentation is on it's way. My problem is that there is a large amount of sediment at the bottom already. Is there meant to be this much trub(?) after just half a day in the fermenter? I'm making a Coopers Lager with 500g DME and 500g Coopers Brew Enhancer1. Temperature is around 24C and OG was 1.039.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the quick reply!

I took a picture, but the forum engine didn't let me post it with the first post. Maybe now:

(Nope, it says, I can't post off-site urls yet. Please copy the link into your adress bar.)

So on the high side it's around the 3L mark.

Ah thats just the yeast and because of the shape of your vessel it's clinging to the sides it'll only be a very thin coating 3-4mm thick don't worry perfectly normal :D

do several GENTLE taps on the sides to encourage it to fall to the floor makes it that little bit easier when syphoning off at the end of fermentation.
When you brew wines or beers with added solids you can get a very thick level of gunge on the bottom...don't worry its normal and a good sign of the fermentation process
