Looking for a stout kit

Hi all I'm looking for a full bodied veletly smooth Stout kit to tinker with, Have already drank Milestones Black Pearl and thats not as smooth as I would like it? I might be asking to much for a kit but want a good base before I play with it.
Any thoughts you kit brewers?

The results will be a secret until it's finished and drinkable if not I'll use it to block up severn trents drains :rofl:

I was pleasantly suprised by the Edme Irish stout kit that I added coca and chocolate essence to. The John Bull 'masterclass' stout (discontinued, I understand) was fairly horrible and if you see any give it a wide berth.

Many many people rave about the Coopers stout when made up with dark spray malt, mine is still conditioning so I can't comment yet :)

i did a coopers stout kit with 500g of dark spray malt and 500g of brewing sugar its is really nice but not smooth, i was told the Milestones Black Pearl which you have already done was the best and smoothest kit.

Avoid the Coopers if you are looking for smooth and biscuity. Australian commercial stouts such as Sheaf Stout, Coopers (commercial in the bottle), Abbotts Invalid Stout etc are mostly 6% to 7% ABV quite hoppy and fruity beers deriving from the original Foreign Export Stouts sent out to the colonies from the UK and have more in common with the robust porters and stouts (often blended with a proportion of soured or 'stale' beer) of the late 19th century.

Hey Bribie, the Kit Coopers has more in common with an Irish Stout than it does with a foreign extra. In my opinion it's the best kit Stout I've had. I wouldn't bother with adulterating them with hop or grain steeping as well...you know...it's Stout! In rank order..

1. Coopers Stout made up with 1kg Medium or Dark Spray Malt. Nice smooth flavourful Stout, top of the class.

2. EDME Irish Stout made up with 1kg Medium or Dark Spray Malt. Good solid Stout but Coopers has it beat.

3. Milestone Black Pearl. Not impressed, harsh and extract twangy with a stuck fermentation.

Arturobandini I agree witht the harshness of it, and I also got a stuck ferment, Have just done a Milestones Ipa but used s04 instead and still looks as if its stuck at 1020???

I think that you have the equipment to do a boil don't you MD :hmm:
Why not have a crack at brewing an extract stout it's easy :party:

I can't boil yet :cry: I can mash! and pump fluids around but no HLT or boiler. Will be getting some placcy in a month or two! Was hoping to go shiney but funds won't let me!

Hence why was looking for a kit for now, to calm my eagerness!!
