Can any of you guys recommend somewhere cosy and romantic to stay for a long weekend in May? I'm looking to take SWMBO away for her birthday, and she loves the kind of things available on http://www.canopyandstars.co.uk, but I wondered if any of you guys could recommend somewhere instead.

Ideally somewhere in the country, but within walking distance of a decent pub or pubs, an ale trail would be perfect.
Pet friendly would be great, but not a requirement.
Varied choice of things in the area to go and see/do, even if it's quaint village type stuff.

Location would be anwhere from Cornwall up to the midlands, maybe yorkshire ish at a push. I can drive anywhere, but I'd rather it not into too much of the holiday time getting there and back to South Wales.

Cheers in advance.

if you like lovely towns/villages then Warwick castle is fantastic , google for the rose and crown in the town centre , lovely place went last year for a 3 day break and wish to go again soon , the castles good too :)

my friend has two holiday cottages in Suffolk here.

it's a bit of a way across the country from Wales, but the scenery would definitely be different, and it's near Southwold (for Adnams Brewery), Norwich, Ipswitch, Kings Lyn, etc for other breweries.
