My father has recently been to Belgium and brought me back a few different beers to sample. One that's standing out like a sore thumb though (for more than one reason) is a double bock called "Leute". The main thing that struck me at first was the name, given that my surname is Leuty (yes quite an unusual name!) I thought it was quite apt. The second thing that I noticed quite quickly was the ABV. At 7.5% it's quite a bit stronger than my normal tipples!

Opening the bottle itself was a joy and I'm presuming due to the shape of the bottle, causes a rather interesting foam to emanate from the top. Upon pouring the beer I noticed how dark and red it was with a very light head on it.
The smell is sweet and smoky. First taste and the alchohol suddenly hits with a bite, yet it's got a smooth body to it. I'm afraid to say that the beer is going down too well...far too well.... I could quite easily drink another two, three maybe even four bottles of this. Just a shame the only other bottle of this within 300 sq miles is in my fridge so it's unlikely I'm going to be enjoying a session of this tonight! Anyone know where I might be able to get hold of this other than getting the Hull to Rotterdam 9.05PM ferry?

They've had it as part of a 6 bottle Belgian pack for a tenner at Lidl a couple of times. I've recultured the yeast from there successfully to make a weissenbock.
