Leaky Keg

Hi All

i recently purchased a couple of corny kegs. To test, i hooked them up to gas regulator and gas and put some water in the keg. Everything works fine however, there appears to be a slight leak coming from the pin of the out connection. If i attach a party tap, the leak stops and allows the water into the tap. The leak seems to force its way through the pin on the out.

Did you replace all of the gaskets and Orings on the kegs? It could be the poppet needs replacing too. I had one that did the same thing. I ended up having to get a new poppet in order to fix the problem because the one that came with the keg was bent, preventing a proper seal.

il check the rings this evening. I got a re-furbished keg so i assumed all would be in working order. What is the poppet?

I just looked at the link Sean supplied. It shows the poppet in there. It's the little spring in the center of the post. The QD has a ball that pushes down on the poppet to allow gas to flow into the keg on the "in" post and beer to flow out from the "out" post. If the poppet is damaged or bent, it will not close fully and will cause a leaky keg!

I found on 2n of my kegs the out post leaked so Norm sent me a new poppet and it still leaked!!!!

I then found that if I put pressure in the keg and pushed down on the poppet just enough to let a his of pressure out it then reseated properly and didn't leak

I have had great fun with a spray bottle of soapy water and an air compressor
