She has been a member since Feb 28, 2016 so i assume this changed when we moved to the new forum software.

... as it happens, I'm currently spending around £3 a month on All Bran ... keeps me Regular

I am sure as you say its something that used to be allowed there is no mention of it in the supporting member benefits below -

I suspect that anyone with a custom title who is not a supporting member probably changed their title before the forum upgraded.

Mystery solved.

Registered and Established Members do not have Custom Titles.
Supporting, Lifetime Supporting and Sponsors do have Custom Titles
This feature is now listed in the benefits of the Supporting/Sponsor memberships.

If someone does not fit the above, it must have happened at some time in the past.
