Just ordered some White Labs WLP830 German Lager Yeast and want to step it up for a few brews. Whats the best temps to grow the yeast? Is it best done at 12c or can i use Ale temps without any adverse affects on the yeast?

Room temp. Remember your growing yeast not making lager/beer

Thanks i was hoping that. Makes life a lot easier as i still not got a fridge. Intend to grow enough for a few batches once it gets colder and use an stc and heatbelt. Found a bottle of the 1st Lager i tried last year in garage. Was 55 brews ago lol. Clearest beer i have ever brewed with zero chill haze. Only problem was too low an IBU. Would of been great otherwise.

I dont think you can chuck the spent starter wort in though. You need to crash the yeast and decant it off. I think this is because it's probably easier to taste any off flavours from the starter in a lager
