If the trend were a switch to good beer it would be great but a large part of the swing is towards cider, the sort that is just an apple version of the lagers losing favour.

Yeah, they often make commercial ciders with corn syrup and go for apple flavour...not always a bad thing, Kingstone Press is one of my favourite drinks! But it's good to see good beers in pubs again :)

Its probably less to do with lager no longer being good enough quality, but cider being stronger so they can get pissed faster
